BroadCast- A team of computer engineers at Britain's Loughborough University has developed a new technology for artificial intelligence that provides football players ’performance during matches.
Researcher Baihua Lee, head of the study team, says that the new technique for measuring player performance relies on complex math equations, and can lead to fundamental changes in sport in general, because it will allow clubs to quickly identify talented players and assess their performance.
Current performance evaluation methods are based on watching match clips to follow the player's level, and manually recording the player's different moves and skills, in addition to counting the number of passes, corrections and kicks he made during the game.
And the website "Tech Explorer", which specializes in technology, quoted researcher Baihua Lee as saying that the new technology that was devised in cooperation with companies "Innovative UK" and "StatusMatrix", which specializes in analyzing football data, combines the latest science in the field Computing imaging and deep learning.
The artificial intelligence system has been fed with thousands of football match records for many teams, players and different situations that occur during game play, as well as clips and videos from various angles and stadium areas.
The artificial intelligence system can assess the player's performance and different skills by monitoring his muscular movements during the game, his style of running, jumping, passing and so on. The system, through algorithmic equations, evaluates each player's performance and measures their true talent for playing.
